There’s a zillion reasons why I take all my bike needs to Bobby, (the lollipop jar, Niko, the absence of sales guys!) but keepin’ it short, he’s the best mechanic.
I’ve had the luxury of riding with pro teams with full time mechanics, but Bobby blows them away. I think he’s worked on bikes since he had diapers on.
Bottomline is I trust his work and his opinion. True quality is always found off the beaten path. So pull up to the bright pink house, dodge the dog and leave your bike with the guy with the odd colored toenails – you’ll have peace of mind that you’re bike will be perfect and so will the price.

"Each season I have dropped off  equipment for Bobby to work on, and he has always tuned my racing bikes to perfection. He's not a normal bike shop mechanic, he is a skilled technician with precise craftsmanship. When you are going for a top 10 Ironman or having to kick at the end of a 100 mile bike race, you depend on your equipment. I know in my head once Bobby has worked on my bike I can depend on it's performance 100%."

I cannot begin to count the number of times that Bobby has pulled my butt from the fire!
Whether it was repairing a snapped chain during the 2008 Tour Das Hugel or just ensuring that my bikes are always in top notch racing form, Bobby is always on top of things!

I have known Bobby for about 5 years and truely believe he is the best mechanic in Austin. Bobby is always enthusiatic and gives his honest assesment of what needs to be done. I always know that when I get my bike back from Bobby it is in top notch shape, I don't ever worry that something was missed..

As a bike service provider and friend Bobby has always been there to give me really fast turn-around on my work at a great price and without sacrificing the quality I expect and need. I personally would not use anyone else or send those who ask me for recommendations to anyone else. With Bobby I feel like my bike is in the care of a friend rather than just a local wrench who does not know me and what I need. In addition to the great work he does his bike spa is a really nice bonus that I take advantage of every opportunity I have. Like many riders I do not care for my bike the way I should so it is nice to have Bobby give it that extra attention now and then and have it looking like new for me on my next ride.
I have a good friend who last summer told me she was about to take her bike to a local shop but would have be without it for two weeks. I suggested she call Bobby to see what he could do for her. As a result she dropped it off that day on the way to an appointment of some kind and when she was done with it, her bike was ready to go. Same day service instead of the expected two weeks and at a better price to boot! Needless to say she was very pleased.

Bobby is a mechanic that I trust with all my bikes. He is knowledgeable, competent, fast and reasonable.  As he does not carry much inventory, he has total flexibility on equipment/parts etc. and he does not object if it makes sense for the customer to locate/buy these separately. He will continue to receive my business.

“Broke a spoke on a Saturday afternoon ride. Bobby was able to fix it right on the spot!  Not a lot of big name shops that will give you that kind of service!”

"After using a number of other bike shops in the Austin area, I went to Bobby’s Bikes for some service.  Bobby did a far superior job in a fraction of the time at a better price.  I highly recommend Bobby’s Bikes.” – Tom Wilkinson, Owner of Xpress Home Theaters

"I've been using Bobby since he opened to service all my bikes anytime I need anything.  His one on one service is great and the turnaround time is super quick.  His prices are great and his weekly specials can't be beat!  Thanks Bobby"

Bobby has always been honest and delivered as promised (poet and dont know it). The shop is always immaculate and no matter what a strange request you have he can usually figure out a way to make it work, he even fixed a buckle on my shoes when I could not figure out a way to make it work.
You also get to play with one of the coolest dogs in Austin.

I was introduced to Bobby’s Bikes by a friend who lived in Florence and was put on Bobby’s mailing list.  I thought Bobby’s was in Florence which would be great because it meant I could get service closer than where I had been taking my bike to a shop that I wasn’t particularly happy with.  It just so happened that Bobby’s Famous Weekly Specials to coincided with a need I had for my hybrid bike.  So I called Bobby to find out where he was in Florence (I live in Georgetown), but alas, his shop was even farther away…much farther away.  Nevertheless, I had told Bobby I would like to bring my bike in so I would make the trip.
One of the smartest decisions I have made concerning my bike.  At 70 I had just started riding so I was a novice at riding and even more so at repairing, but I had been “around the corner” a few times and knew Bobby was a diamond in the rough…with emphasis on “the rough”!
" Since that first visit, I have made the 40-45 minute trek (and I don’t mean the bike) on a very regular basis.  I make up any kind of excuse to take my bike in because I not only get excellent repairs, but Bobby even takes time to answer my many questions about riding.  I value the “loving care” he takes with my bike and the advice he so willingly provides.  Also since that first visit, I have “graduated” to an honest-to-goodness road bike with Bobby’s advice and consent on my choice.
I highly recommend Bobby’s Bikes to anyone who wants personal care and attention to detail and never have to worry about being told you need a thingamajig for your whatchamacallit…it just won’t happen at Bobby’s.  If he recommends a repair or replacement, better listen!
Besides where else can you go where your bike shop owner-mechanic paints his toenails?  That alone is worth the first trip.  And then you’ll be convinced that that you have found a “home” for your bike.

You can take your chances at any of the local shops, or you can go to Bobby. I had given up on local shops to find any level consistent technical ability and found I could do most repairs and installations better myself. Then a friend recommended I go to Bobby's Bikes to help me tweak a couple of problems no one else could fix. Now I would not take my chances anywhere else - I know exactly who is working on my bike when I need help. Thanks Bobby!
